A Bit About My Health Journey
At one of the most stressful times in my life I was burnt out and desperately needed a change.
My joints hurt. I had low energy. I was in a constant fog and gaining weight.
Stress was preventing me from sleeping. The less sleep I got the more my stress amplified.
I was prioritizing everyone and everything over my own needs and health. I was making excuse after excuse about why I wasn't able to prioritize my health. I was always saying, "as soon the holidays are over." or "right before summer starts," or "when hockey season is over..."
My joints hurt. I had low energy. I was in a constant fog and gaining weight.
Stress was preventing me from sleeping. The less sleep I got the more my stress amplified.
I was prioritizing everyone and everything over my own needs and health. I was making excuse after excuse about why I wasn't able to prioritize my health. I was always saying, "as soon the holidays are over." or "right before summer starts," or "when hockey season is over..."
It wasn't until I saw a picture of myself with our new puppy that I realized I didn't recognize the person in the photo. I was looking at a tired, overwhelmed, inactive, stress eater.
That once active, fit, happy, and energetic person was somewhere else and she felt distant. I blamed the stress, the lack of time, and my family needs for my unhealthy habits. Looking at the picture made me realize that I, and I alone, made my own choices and I could either stay where I was (and never take another photo again - very unrealistic if you know me) or I could STOP the excuses and blaming and focus my energy on creating healthy habits for a healthy lifestyle. |
Today I am a much happier and healthier version of myself.
I am connecting with my inner athlete. I am aware of the gut and mind connection and am making choices to foster that connection. I feel better on the inside and have more energy. I am recognizing what causes me stress and I am proactive. I can better respond to the stress in my life and as a result I have less stress. I have established routines to properly plan time for myself and still get my family's needs met. I connect with the things that bring me joy. I am my top priority and as a result and I am better wife and mother. I have identified how to fuel my body with the proper supplements and feel good nutrition so my clothing fits better and I am able to manage my weight. I know how to add health with what I eat |
